Official They Hate US San Francisco 49ers Football Santa Grinch Christmas shirt

The Pakistani family we visited wore traditional clothes, where as we always wore western clothes. My mother & I never covered our heads, but when we visited them I had to wear a head scarf (dupatta). They only spoke in Urdu (the Official They Hate US San Francisco 49ers Football Santa Grinch Christmas shirt besides I will buy this mother couldn’t speak English but husband & kids could), which was fine as I could speak the language, but we mainly spoke English in our home. Their family prayed and went regularly to mosque. My parents did neither, and I have no knowledge of Islam. We celebrated Christmas & Easter, they did neither. Our family friends were White (apart from some of my dad’s friends whom he made when studying & working abroad). Over the years, I’ve observed that a lot of South Asians in the U.K. tend to stick amongst their own ethnic groups. Of those I’ve met, they’re genuinely very kind people, but at times the older generation women are a little conservative/judgemental on us not being traditional. Because my parents integrated with Western culture, that is reflected in me, and I’m viewed as a “coconut” (brown on the outside, white on the inside).

Official Official They Hate US San Francisco 49ers Football Santa Grinch Christmas shirt

My parents family live in Lahore. Most of my experience is from my many visits there, although I have also been to Islamabad & Karachi. Bizarrely, I fit in better with Pakistanis in the Official They Hate US San Francisco 49ers Football Santa Grinch Christmas shirt besides I will buy this subcontinent. None of my parents family are particularly religious. When I visit Pakistan, I wear mainly western clothing, same as I do here, skinny jeans and a top. Occasionally, I’d wear a lengha (a skirt & long top). I’ve also worn maxi dresses in the summer, my arms are exposed. I don’t wear a head scarf when around my uncles, and not when I venture out either. The only time I was told off was by a random elderly man when I was a child. No one else seemed to care. Pakistanis do notice I’m “foreign” particularly when I go to bazaars, they see me coming! I stand there fascinated by how women bargain over the price of goods. I could never be a skilled haggler, my western upbringing of paying full price makes me feel awkward and uncomfortable trying to attempt it 🙂 I have a fair few cousins who are younger than me and are either studying/graduated in medicine or engineering. They’re pretty westernised. They don’t talk about religion or politics, instead it revolves around stress of exams, fancying some girl or guy. They’re social media junkies, obsessed with taking selfies while I hate them 🙂 I see them as normal for their age.
