My favorite t-shirt to be upgraded in was “I Frequent the Dr Seuss Buck Fiden I Do Not Like Your Border With No Wall US Flag T-Shirt but in fact I love this Northwest Flying Museum of Classic Airliners,” at least when I was flying Northwest before the merger with Delta and had a chance of winding up aboard a DC-9 that was almost as old as I was. Second best was a black one reading “I’ve stopped fighting my inner demons. We’re on the same side now.” A couple very-active-in-the-church black ladies at major east coast city airports gave me worried looks when I showed up at their counters in that one! My business class flights tend to be long hauls – San Francisco to some country in the EU, non-stop. I tend to wear something comfortable, non-binding, that can sleep in and won’t look too wrinkled to wear off the plane. For several years in the early 90’s I had flight dress and got many positive remarks from the cabin attendants because it looks as fresh after 14 hours and it did when I got on the aircraft. Then I switched to an outfit with pants/jacket made of fabrics that did not wrinkle. I also carry a clean shirt, simple and white, and change before I get off the plane. With that said, I’ve seen numerous biz or 1st-class male travelers on these long haul flights settle in, go to the bathroom, change into pajamas and hand their suit/shirt/belt to the flight attendant to place on hangers. Really!
