So your Jewish friends are misinformed about modern Germany. Maybe they prefer to keep their false impressions, but to actually get offended about you even talking about Germany is just being wilfully ignorant about how Germany really is now. You “roasted” someone for being 1% Jewish. Do you also “roast” people for being part African-American? Does that lead to loud laughter?

Side note: I have met Jewish tourists on several occasions in several countries (I could identify them by the orthodox Jewish clothes they were wearing), and I was surprised by their rude and unfriendly behaviour – they were not adressing me as a German, they behaved indecent in general. I was surprised, because I thought that Jews would be more friendly and culturally refined. Some years ago I read about a scientific survey which covered the fact that people from Israel often are regarded as rude. The study came to the conclusion that Jews have learned that friendliness ans decency do not help them to reach their goals. Sounds sad, but reasonably true.
