Then we cover our homes and cars in England flags – not the Union Flag, but the George Cross – and drink too much and sob dramatically about how we live in the best country ever. Until we get disqualified. Then it’s back to laughing at tourists and hating Germans for being better than we are at football.)

Speaking from a Queensland perspective, I can only reliably identify the Queensland flag in context. Walk past Parliament House, for example, and there it is. If you asked me what it looked like right now, I’d be stumped.
