Similarly, you can’t be against the individual’s right to defend himself without fear of criminal prosecution and be liberal. To be liberal you must recognize the sovereignty of man and his rights. Government and group rights are secondary, not primary. I don’t see any roadblocks to a Republican identifying as liberal as they accept the US Constitution without reservation.
