Keep in mind that my white coats never go outside, and I take them off frequently. They really don’t get as much chance to get dirty as other clothes. So, the coats are not used that much, are made out of materials that tend to keep their color, and are laundered frequently. In my time, usually 2 or 3 per hospital/clinic. That’s a minimum of 6. That is, you wear the smock with hospital insignia when doing rounds at one hospital, you changed into another when you went on to another hospital, and yet another for free/stand alone shared practices.
