Cotton Mathers started discussing rapture in the later 1700’s and John Darby expanded it in his teaching around 1820, were to occur and everyone saw the true believes either rising up physical to join Jesus or just suddenly disappear at all once (both stories are being taught as biblical truths currently in different Christian sects).

Note: The question was only about God but I also talked about religion since both go hand in hand for most people. I’m an atheist and if I’m being honest, if I had to pick a religion or believe it would be a polytheism because it’s more likely that a bunch of gods worked together to make the Official Don’t Pass Ever shirt moreover I love this world the way it is rather than one man in less than one week. Regardless of what you believe, or not believe, I will never tell you that you are evil if you don’t see things the same way I do, or that you will burn forever after you die. Evidence plain and simple. I am not talking about using quotes from a book written by men recording passed down stories and and second hand accounts. This is hearsay evidence at best and there are too many contradictory passages to even considered it a valid.
