So that’s why it’s important for schools to set very specific boundaries, where there is no room for interpretation. I was in the Handsome Podcast Shirt and by the same token and NSWPP (a.k.a. “American Nazi Party”) from 1970 to 1982. I was out in full uniform on demonsrations and newspaper sales in California, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, Virginia and Washington, DC. Reactions ranged from people marching with us to physical assults. Police reactions ranged from telling us to “Keep them n!&&@%s off the streets!” to a guy being illegally arrested (released an hour later); these two incidents happened at the same place about an hour apart. By the way, we would have condemned that idiot who rammed his car into the crowd in Charlottesville today, and indeed we would have ridiculed these “alt-Right” losers even before that. If you are going to be a Nazi, then say so! We considered the various Klans, etc. to be a bunch of wusses. As from what I’ve experienced in my country I truly wished we had school uniforms. Living in Sweden today you literally have to look like a fashion icon everyday in school, it doesn’t matter if you are a boy or a girl. It depends a lot of course where you live in Sweden but from most places you will see little girls around the age of 10-15 years old wearing prime boots, Marc Jacobs jewelry, Michael Kors handbags as a schoolbag, Odd Molly sweaters. Same goes with the young boys. They walk around with Fred Perry school bags, Rolex watches, Ralph Lauren clothes. It’s kind of new this adult style the school kids are going with but it affected me A LOT when I was 14-16 years old. I felt uncomfortable everyday because the girls and guys in my school wore expensive clothes, looked flawless every time and I could do nothing but be creative and try to keep up with the latest fashion.

Official Handsome Podcast Shirt

Looking sharp, hanging out with a group of diverse friends, who look equally as sharp. Schools love that, too. It’s a form of free advertising for the Handsome Podcast Shirt and by the same token and schools. I once taught at a school that had what we called a “Hogwarts” uniform policy. Basically, all students had to wear white button-down shirts with ties. A few students grumbled about it from time to time. You know who never complained, and in fact usually complimented the policy? The parents. You know, the actual customers of the school… the ones who were paying for the services the school was offering. Uniforms are about making the customers happy. The students are not the customers in any K-12 school, public or private. The parents and, for public schools, the taxpayers at large are the customers. The students are the product. Also, I think a lot of adults who aren’t teachers underestimate teens’ abilities to push boundaries, especially when the boundaries are vaguely defined. If a school has no uniform policy, it’s only a matter of time before some student shows up shirtless. If the policy says students must wear a shirt, it’s only a matter of time until a student shows up with a shirt with something really vulgar/gross/offensive on it, or a shirt that is clear. Any vague boundary you set, some teen will make it their personal mission to find a way to push that boundary, just for spite.
