Cotton is useless for warmth when wet, so whether you get wet from perspiration, rain, snow or whatever, keep warm in wool next to your skin. I have spent many happy warm days in wind, rain and snow dressed entirely in multiple layers of woollen clothing underneath an outer water-proof layer of coat and trousers.
