While the veteran answered his country’s call, the elite stayed home, elevating their prospects for their futures, while leaving veterans to suffer insults, and mental anguish, and drug abuse, and alcoholism for near a decade, and then only token assistance is given. To this day, veterans have to fight for whatever they get, while those they serve scoff at us and want to tighten the budget even more, and ask questions having to do with why should veterans get benefits? Concerning my former enemy, I can understand how they might be pissed when we state that we won every battle, as if dismissing them as being ineffectual and cowardly. They had no air force, and with a few exceptions no permanent bases in the area called at the time South Vietnam. Their line of logistics was bicycles loaded down as mules being walked alongside for hundreds of miles. Our enemy was tenacious and resourceful, and they do deserve our respect, even if given grudgingly.
