Today people are in a rush to get themselves tanned or obtain a dusky complexion in order to stand out of the crowd and gather attention. In India, dark skinned girls are still subjected to taunts and pity. In the matrimonial columns, people still advertise for a fair bride. I’m wheatish skinned and very proud of that.
