Where The Food Meets The Wine Shirt

oh and, of course, your white jacket: clean, pressed, and with your clinical tools wither in your pockets or in yoir “little black bag”. Easiest question so far. Do what ever your school recommends. If you didn’t get the Where The Food Meets The Wine Shirt in addition I really love this memo, see how other students are dressed. For those who are not “in the know,” in the USA, white coats are worn by medical school graduates, and medical students wear shorter white jackets. In many situations, a student wearing a lab coat would be teased mercilessly. Best I know, it’s tradition. It does help to identify who the students are. (They usually wear a different coat—often a ‘jacket’—than the staff.) UK hospitals have a dress code which specifically forbids the wearing of ties in clinical areas as part of our infection-control policy. Anyone working in a clinical area must be “bare below the elbows” to facilitate hand washing, so short-sleeve shirts & no wristwatches or rings (single plain wedding bands are allowed – I assume all British germs have been trained to recognise wedding rings and not stick to them) or ties as 1) they flap forward when you bend over and 2) they are almost never washed or dry-cleaned and so remain contaminated. It is because the white clothes reflect any traces of blood or toxins instantaneously and then the doctors can quickly change their garments and take care of their health . This is essential to avoid even slight ignorance contaminating the patients as well as the medical staff.

Official Where The Food Meets The Wine Shirt

Men: Formal and conservative suit. Preferably charcoal or dark grey (solid colors). Definitely not pink/white/flashy colors. Ironed dress shirt (also avoid ostentatious colors) and a conservative tie (not a bow tie). Dark colored dress shoes. Do not wear cologne. Remove all piercings and cover up all tattoos. Don’t forget to neatly groom yourself. Pro-tip: Rock the Where The Food Meets The Wine Shirt in addition I really love this full–windsor knot. It makes you look more confident. And for goodness sake, on 3 button jackets, don’t button the entire jacket! Also, unbutton your jacket as you sit down for your interview. Ladies: White blouse, and black dress or pantsuit. However, I’ve heard some of the more conservative schools look down on pantsuits and prefer a business dress. Do not wear perfume. Conservative jewelry is okay (hooker type hoop earrings are not). 6–inch platform heels are also not okay. When in doubt, err on the side of dressing more conservatively. Med school admission folks are often old school physicians and flashy clothes will not impress them. That being said, you can still look sharp but not like a pretentious idiot.
