Official Texas Tech Raider Red Guns Up shirt
This is a cheeky one-up on the Texas Tech Raider Red Guns Up shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this old “Been there, done that” retort, itself used to convey: “What you’re telling me is old familiar, known in one’s own experience.” It can be used to express “Okay, you can stop, gotcha.” OR it can be used to express sympathy. “I’VE BEEN THERE!” Affirmation and recognition: I’ve done that too, for sure. I know where you been on that one. Oddly, when the place been/thing done is good or presented as, the phrase typically “Yeah, yeahs” ya – no need to tell ME. It’s the bad place/things done we chime in sympathy with. For some reason people forget to sympathize with joy when they get the chance. It can be done, you know? I’ve been there. Adding a t-shirt to the mix just ups it to “I’ve not only been there, done that, I have souvenirs and memorabilia from the gift shop. The trip that whole thing was.” It is probably figurative. The incidents are pretty usually interpersonal clash and anguish, rites of passage and lessons-learned. Rarely does anyone offer t-shirts for sale that say “CHEATED ON AND LIVED” – though perhaps those would sell. I want a t-shirt that says “GAINED WEIGHT.” I mean, I was what, eight or nine pounds once. People need to stop stigmatizing natural process and function.
