This officer is my backup and wades into the fight screaming racist epithets, and some bystander records the whole thing. How does that make me look when the video goes viral on YouTube – me, fighting a black man with all I’ve got while my “partner” screams racist words? It will be compounded by the fact that any aggression by the arrestee in the fight will be edited out too, but that’s just another argument for having my own camera found and hoping it doesn’t get knocked out during the fight (see? Drones would be better). The point is, if a body camera lets us get rid of that rotten cop before it comes to that, so much the better.
