The difference would perhaps come in the way both families reacts to the situation. I know of people whose families readily accepted the marriage and conducted it with mixed rituals. In other instances the family rejected the wedding at first. They disowned the daughter for a year but then gave up and accepted the daughter and her choice of husband. So it depends on the parents completely.
