The bottom line is that there was a business opportunity exploiting this frame of mind and words barely matter when seen with reference to business opportunity for many. Hence these thrive too. For a moment imagine T shirts sporting gandhi’ sayings or aristotle’ sayings on T shirts vs say some controversial and meaningless stuff uttered by a rock star etc and you will see why the former kind of T shirts can’t be sported by large number of people. Controversy and sometimes irrational thoughts and words attract more attention which is the primary reason for us to see more of them
